This year has been like no other and will be remembered for decades, if not centuries, to come. My heart goes out to all those who have suffered during this pandemic, whether directly by the virus or indirectly by way of the restrictions placed upon us. I am also very thankful, and have great respect for, all those who had to carry on working, particulary during the first lockdown. It must have been incredibly stressful to go out to work in the early days when so little was known about the virus.
It was also heart-warming to discover that so many people were willing to volunteer and help others when it mattered, particularly in those early months when treatments were still in their infancy. For a while we saw the ‘Blighty Spirit’ return which people of a certain age still remember and the younger generation have heard about from their grandparents and great grandparents. It is good to know this stoic, empathic and determined spirit is still present in many of us.
As 2020 draws to a close, I am more hopeful for 2021. With this in mind, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I know Christmas will be very different this year, but hopefully 2021 will be better for all of us.
My very best wishes,
