Joffe Books Acquire Choc Lit!

Bookseller Announcment

Jasper Joffe, CEO of leading independent publisher Joffe Books, has acquired my publisher Choc Lit!
Choc Lit was founded in 2009 and has developed a reputation for quality romance, winning awards and discovering new authors so it came as a big surprise to learn that Joffe Books will be taking over Choc Lit’s list of approximately 250 titles, including my Cornish Tales Series and Waiting For Our Rainbow. Surprising news... but also exciting!

The acquisition was announced to the public through the Bookseller on 29th March, 2023. In the press release Jasper Joffe is quoted as saying...

“We love Choc Lit and are delighted to acquire the company from Lyn Vernham.
Lyn has built one of the most outstanding publishers of women’s fiction and romance in the UK.
It’s an honour to take forward this brilliant publisher with its unique tasting panel of readers who help select the books to publish.
We aim to build on the list’s exceptional quality and to find new opportunities to reach even more readers.
It’s a great fit for our future as an all-genres commercial publisher.”

Jasper Joffe, CEO of Joffe Books

Joffe Books was founded in 2014 and is now the largest independent publisher of e-books in the UK. Joffe Books was shortlisted for Independent Publisher of the Year at the British Book Awards in 2020, 2021, and 2022, and in March this year they won the 'Independent Trade Publisher of the Year' Award.

The acquisition news was shared to Choc Lit's authors prior to the press release. It was a shock, but it was also exciting news as Joffe Books has a great reputation. They also love Choc Lit books so I feel the Cornish Tales Series and my latest release, Waiting For Our Rainbow, are in safe hands. I believe the future is looking bright for my babies.

However, changes can also mean a few goodbyes. Lyn Vernham, the founder and director of Choc Lit, has launched over 60 authors since 2009, two thirds of which were debuts writers. I was one of them and I will be eternally grateful to Lyn for turning me into a traditionally published author and finding a good home for her authors' books... namely another award winning publisher - Joffe Books.

If there are any updates or changes that will effect my books I'll let you know! As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have learnt that the publishing world is always changing. This is a big change for me, but it is also a good one and I'm delighted to share it with you!
